Bee in the City Wellington
Event Dates
Mills Albert Bee in the City
From 14th September – 8th November 2026.
A giant public art trail, buzzing with creativity and community.
For eight weeks in Spring 2026, Mills Albert Bee in the City will transform Wellington into a vibrant outdoor art gallery.
- 30+ giant bee sculptures – each brought to life by Kiwi artists
- 20+ community bees – decorated by schools and local groups
- A colourful city-wide trail – free, fun, and family-friendly
At the end of the trail on 26th November, each giant sculpture will be auctioned to raise vital funds for Life Flight Trust – the charity that operates Wellington’s Westpac Chopper and Air Ambulance Planes, providing time-critical care to more than 1,700 New Zealanders every year.
Come explore, celebrate, and be part of something extraordinary – a trail that brings art, community, and lifesaving impact together in the heart of Wellington.
Give a Bee a forever home
After the Bee in the City trail comes to a close, our 30 giant artist designed Bees will be looking for their forever homes – and you could take one home!
The Bees will be auctioned on Thursday 26 November, raising vital funds for Life Flight to help continue our 24/7 lifesaving service.
Whether you display your Bee at home or work, or give it a new home in the community, your bid will help support Life Flight’s lifesaving work.
Keen to take a Bee home? Register your interest in the auction today.
